This week I have chosen to write about the hands-free ear piece. This little miracle keeps the idiot next to me from changing lanes into my car while he is jaw jacking to someone. I can see the enormous advantage that this technology brings to commuters and to those who don’t talk on the phone while driving. Safety is the first and foremost priority while operating a motor vehicle.
That being said I am done complimenting this invention. We will now talk about the guy or girl who doesn’t seem to want to take the thing out of their ear while in a public place and not being in use. Let me begin by saying that you are not that important! If you are sitting in a crowded bar having a drink with co-workers, take it out. You look like an idiot. People like me are talking about you behind your back. It doesn’t make you look cooler than anyone else. It proves that you need the approval and attention of others. Seems harsh, I know, but this has to stop. No one wants to hear your conversation either. No one cares. Take it out and show some respect to those around you. If you receive a call while in public then excuse yourself and step outside. It seems that the people that should be in need of this gadget leave it in their car, it is the guy that looks like he just got done mowing a lawn that leaves it in and uses it in public.
Now I am not bashing anyone. I think its overall purpose is of importance, I’m just saying please take it out and leave it in the car. I hope that I did not offend anyone by this review. I have nothing but respect for the hard working American’s that utilizes this little gem of technology.

I'm with you on that. A lot of people walk around looking like they've had hi-tech implants, its so ridiculous. In an earlier time, I used to get a kick out of the guys that strapped their phone on one side of their belts, the pager over here and the leatherman over there...I wonder how the pants stayed up!
ReplyDeletePeople can really become attached to their technology and choose to show it off like a poodle in a purse.

ReplyDeleteHaHa! I love this analysis. I remember watching a TrueLife episode on MTV and there was a mother on there that was being evicted from her apartment because she didn't pay her rent, but she would go around EVERYWHERE with her bluetooth ear piece in. I thought it was so ironic that she didn't have enough money to pay for her rent, but she had enough money to have cell phone service. I think there is a sense of importance that is associated with the ear piece. I don't own one and I don't think I ever will. I don't think my fiance's sounds that great and I've heard electronics on your head constantly can cause brain cancer. I am sure that is just one of those silly myths, but who knows! Great post!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree! I hate it when people are trying to talk on the phone and theyre swirving like theyre drunk! Although Im not sure everyone is better off with the handsfree ear piece. Some people are still just as incompetent. Good analysis!
ReplyDeleteI was constantly going "excuse me, are you talking to me?" I have since caught on. My kids can not understand why I nearly have to be knocked down to get my attention. I have looked stupid too many times thinking that someone is addressing me.
